ABBEY'S BOOKSELLER PICK ----- Nicola West's dark tale is set in the sparkling coastal town of Kiama, not too far south of Sydney, yet the townsfolk may not be enjoying their literary moment given the portrayal here. Then again, maybe they'll love it!
The youthful protagonist of Marlowe (just out of uni) is full of barely contained energy, which is a change-up from old cops, lawyers & journos with complicated pasts.
The story moves fast as she gets drawn deeper into unravelling the mystery surrounding the murder of her friend, Lily, and the quandary of who to trust - even herself - makes this an enjoyable and engrossing read. Craig Kirchner
