Nicole Crowe grew up in Nelly Bay on Magnetic Island in a little wooden house built by her father. The beauty and strangeness of the island, combined with her brother's former profession as a skydive tandem master, provided the inspiration for The Washup. Nicole still lives in Far North Queensland, but on the mainland, with her family, four chickens and a large neighbourhood python.
'The Washup is packed with action and adrenaline, yet punctuated with moments of humour and tenderness. Nicole’s blend of crime with comedy is a unique and welcome addition to the genre, and readers will love the hot mess of a main character who you’re rooting for the whole way through.' – Laura McCluskey, author of The Wolf Tree 'The Washup is a highly entertaining crime novel set on the beautiful Magnetic Island. With a wonderful sense of place, a tight plot and lots of dry humour, it’s a rare treat!' – Nikki Mottram, author of Crows Nest 'Fiendishly good, with an unforgettable protagonist and whip-crack dialogue. The Washup is a refreshing twist on the rural crime genre, with an insane plot will give you paper cuts as you try to turn the pages fast enough to race to the end.' – Veronica Lando, author of The Whispering
