ABBEY'S BOOKSELLER PICK ----- Raych and Carmen are two fully messed up teenagers. Raych because her girlfriend Piper disappeared almost a year ago, a year in which the mutilated bodies of young women are washing up on Perth beaches. She's convinced the serial killer is responsible for Piper's abduction and deliberately tries to lure him into snatching her, so she can find out what happened. Carmen knows her brain is different but she doesn't have the words to describe what happens when she disassociates, though she suspects she is the reason the killer is doing what he does, because there was 'that night'...

When the two girls come together in their suspicions and decide to hunt down the man they think is behind it all, they don't fully trust each other. Ensuing events show they don't really know what they've gotten themselves into, and soon they will be in more danger than they bargained for...

Told through their alternating voices, and over the course of a week, this is a propulsive and twisty novel about guilt, grief, predators and victims, but also about reclaiming agency and fighting back against demons, personal and societal.  Lindy

Every monster has a weakness.

At the height of Australian summer, a serial killer known as The Shark stalks a coastal suburb, hunting young female swimmers.

Afraid and furious at the failure of the police to protect them, two women fight back. Raych is grieving someone she'd have died to save, while Carmen hides her own disturbing connection to the murders.

In desperation, they form an uneasy alliance. And when another girl vanishes, they take matters into their own hands - by kidnapping the prime suspect. But as their interrogation spirals, horrifying truths surface on both sides of the table.

The clock is ticking to save the missing girl. And in their quest for justice, Raych and Carmen must face the darkest question of all: have they caught a monster - or become one?

The Shark is a propulsive psychological thriller about fear, vengeance and the thin line between predator and victim.
