Nadir Yilmaz is a professor and department chair of mechanical engineering at Howard University in Washington, DC, and director of the Howard University Transportation Research Center. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), consultant, NASA Academic Mission Services Faculty Fellow, and a U.S. Department of Energy Summer Visiting Faculty Fellow at Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories.Dr. Yilmaz serves as editor-in-chief of the SAE International Journal of Fuels and Lubricants and sits on the editorial boards of several international journals. His professional service includes leadership roles on the boards of ASEE, NSPE, SAE Foundation, NSPE Education Foundation, and the Society of Automotive Engineers of Turkey, as well as a governor-appointed position on the New Mexico State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors.He has received numerous honors from ASEE, ASME, NSPE, and SAE, including the SAE International Excellence in Engineering Education Award, Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award, SAE Leadership Citation Award, and the NSPE National Young Engineer of the Year Award.Previously, Dr. Yilmaz was a professor and associate department chair at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. He earned BS, MS, and PhD degrees in mechanical engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Bradley University, and New Mexico State University. A fellow of AAAS, ASEE, ASME, NSPE, and SAE International, he has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and is recognized on the World's Top 2% Scientists List.
