Communication and Nonprofit Organizations: People and Practice underscores the importance of communication in nonprofit organizing and helps readers understand how communication operates within this unique context.

The text prepares readers to understand the nonprofit context, communicate confidently and competently with internal and external audiences, and manage communication challenges faced by nonprofit leaders, members, and volunteers. Individual chapters explore the key features and functions of nonprofit organizations, communication strategies needed to recruit and retain volunteers, employees, and board members, creating strategic communication plans, fundraising, governance, advocacy, and more. Each chapter includes case scenarios, learning outcomes, Spotlight on Scholarship sections, Learn More and Try This Boxes, and discussion questions to connect the material with practice, emphasize key concepts in existing literature, and encourage critical thinking and application.

Communication and Nonprofit Organizations is ideal for courses in nonprofit communication, organizational communication, business and professional communication, and nonprofit management. The book equips readers with the practical knowledge they need for effective organizational collaboration, donor recruitment, co-contributor engagement, and volunteer retention.
