Frederick Ramsay was born in Baltimore, Maryland, graduated from Washington and Lee University in Virginia, and received his doctorate from the University of Illinois-Westside Medical Campus. After a stint in the Army, he joined the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. In 1971, he was ordained an Episcopal priest. Now retired from full-time ministry, he lives in Arizona with his wife and partner, Susan. Buffalo Mountain is third in his series featuring sheriff Ike Schwartz.
