Reviews for Walter (Bilingual Edition)

"After being neglected by a previous owner, curious and energetic Walter looks over the fence and discovers an entire world he has never seen before. Wanting so badly to experience this world, he takes matters into his own paws and jumps the fence. Walter by Sara V. Robinson is a sweet children's book that is dedicated to the animals who have a special role in this world. This charming story follows Walter, an adorable black Labrador mix, who finds himself at an Atlanta, Georgia dog pound waiting for his forever family. This heartfelt kids book is told through the perspective of Walter, and I felt the dialogue to be right on point with what I would imagine a dog sounding like when experiencing things or deciphering body language with humans. The book is a little sad, but the story does not go into detail about animal abuse, ensuring the story is emotionally light and approachable, and this also help keeps the focus on the point of the story. Which is that all animals deserve to be loved and live their lives to the fullest. The images by illustrator Edixon Rodriguez matched the sweet and tender personality of Walter and helps readers connect with the story. It is an easy read, and there is a Spanish version provided as well. This can be beneficial for young children who are learning another language or for Spanish speaking people. My favorite part of this wonderful book is that it is inspired by a real story and includes a picture of the real Walter at the very end.Walter is an emotional, illuminating and uplifting story of one dog's journey towards love, trust and his forever home.Thomas Anderson Editor In Chief Literary Titan ""The reader will finish the book with a feeling of close connection with a lifeform that isn't so different from a young human child, who is utterly dependent on adults and has all the emotions of fear, confusion, apprehension, love, and trust. This is a very important book that all children should be exposed to at a young age to learn how to be responsible pet owners and, most of all, teach them empathy for living beings that will depend on him or her one day. I highly recommend Walter by Sara Robinson to both children and their parents."" Francis Mont for Readers' Favorite. ""Walter, a black Labrador and terrier mix, gives a candid account of life with humans, both good and bad, from his perspective. This book depicts the essence of family, renewal, and gratitude."" Vernita Naylor from Readers' Favorite. A heartwarming story of a dog's rescue Amazon: Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2022An endearing book that features the story told in English and in Spanish. The story is told from the perspective of a dog named Walter whose story is based on an actual event. In short, Walter is neglected by his owner and runs away. He is taken to the pound where he is adopted by a loving family. But those are just the facts. The story that colors in those facts is both heartbreaking (at the beginning) and heart-lifting (at the end). The story is well crafted and gives those of us who have adopted dogs - or those who are thinking about adopting a dog - an important perspective in how much adoption matters and the lives that are changed (not just the dog's) when they are rescued. Highly recommend."
