Writing under the pen name Julia McTrill, this Northampton-born author is a lifelong science fiction enthusiast with a passion for storytelling. Raised by Jamaican parents-her mother a mental health nurse and her father a mechanic-Julia grew up in a large, musically gifted family, surrounded by creativity and diverse influences. Her love for science fiction was sparked by classics like Star Trek, Quantum Leap, and Highlander, fuelling her imagination and inspiring her to craft worlds of her own.With a background in computer software and hardware engineering, she brings a unique blend of technical insight and creative depth to her writing. A multi-talented artist, Julia is also a qualified dance teacher and nail artist, with a love for crafting, cross-stitch, and card making. Though she works part-time as a software tester, she's found a new passion in weaving action-packed, emotionally gripping stories.Her debut novel, Through The Veil, is a thrilling fusion of science fiction, action, and romance, reflecting her love for the genre. She draws inspiration from her favourite books, including the Dune trilogy, the Divergent series, and the I Am Number Four series, and she deeply admires the works of Susan Stoker.When she's not writing, Julia enjoys spending time with her husband and their two daughters, MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games), exploring new books, and immersing herself in the stories she loves.
