Through her deep friendships with refugees, working with a local refugee organization and living in countries with diverse cultures, Candice Klopfenstein came to understand the fundamental desire of people everywhere to have a secure and peaceful place to call home. Her personal journey of belonging has led her to look for ways to help others to experience a life full of peace, hope, joy and laughter. As the writer of heartfelt stories, her desire is to reaffirm value and bring hope to children and families everywhere.Candice loves time with her family, spending time in nature and reading a good book. As a child, she developed a lifelong love for picture books, creating art projects and collecting seashells. Candice lives in Chicago, Illinois with her husband. This is her first book for children. Antonia Ruppert is an artist who has been creating for over 25 years. She creates paintings that tell a story. She fell in love with books as a child after reading stories like A Birthday for Francis, Amelia Bedelia and Leo the Late Bloomer. From Chicago's Austin neighborhood, the oldest of six siblings, she recalls drawing horses and people on tons of pink paper that was gifted to her by the dentist office. Now creating on canvas, panels and paper using all kinds of paint, she is inspired by stories of unity, hope and love.
