Night is dangerous. Day is deadly. On a planet that rotates the wrong way, where day and night last thirty years, humans can only live in the twilight zone, constantly moving to stay ahead of the dark night and the cruel Nocturnals that call it home.

Joah Cadshaw used to retrieve people the Nocturnals had taken, until his wife came back broken. Now, sent out west to spread word of the coming Move, he finds signs of another person gone missing - a young boy.

If Joah wants to save the boy, he must face the monsters who haunt his dreams.

Reviews for The Nocturnals

Over the top awesome. Over the top awesome. I read it in one sitting, staying up way past bedtime. Montoya creates a society on a planet with strange characteristics, strange beings, and brings it all together nicely. The plot is simple enough yet is executed to perfection. I am angry that I don't have TEN stars to rate this book, so I will give it the 5 stars that I am allotted. lam32767, LibraryThing Will definitely be reading this book again in the future. Overall a great read. Great character and world building, details paint a vivid image of what's going on. ... Will definitely be reading this book again in the future. stormelite92, LibraryThing The world building is excellent. A strong opening had me hooked. ... The concept of the story is interesting: this planet rotates the wrong direction, meaning that the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. Because of this, a day on the planet lasts 60 years: 30 years of daylight and 30 years of night. The Sunsetters move further east every few months, never letting the sun drop lower than 10 Degrees in the sky. The mysterious and terrifying Nocturnals live in the night parts of the planet. They take one victim every year. ... The characters are complex and three dimensional, and the world building is excellent. AliciaBooks, Amazon A nicely imagined universe. The Nocturnals is an original and interesting story about a world that spins the wrong way around and its population divided into those who strive to always stay in the light and those who prefer darkness. ... The author created a nicely imagined universe for readers to visit with pretty clever world-building to boot. Bandit, Goodreads
