The Lightness of Being Grounded is a mosaic of poetry and essay capturing the raw beauty of navigating one of life's most profound upheavals. Through the unraveling of a marriage and the ensuing struggle to reclaim a sense of self, this collection offers an intimate glimpse into the heartache and healing that follows profound loss. With lyrical prose and evocative imagery, The Lightness of Being Grounded illuminates the struggle of losing one's footing and the courage required to rebuild from the ground up. For anyone who has faced the end of a significant relationship or felt lost in their own life, this memoir offers solace and inspiration, showing that even in our deepest struggles, we can find a way back to ourselves.

Ama is a writer, mother and artist. She studied contemporary dance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and believes dancing and writing are intertwined. She penned her first novel in the summer of '99 in a college ruled composition book and in the 25 years since she's managed multiple online blogs, released a zine-to-mail series called The Glitch, a story-to-mail series called ""White"" and started a small press publishing company called Aproprose Press. She likes seeing her work in paper over digital and is happiest when that paper is being dog eared and underlined. She currently lives in Charleston, South Carolina with her four children.

Reviews for The Lightness of Being Grounded

""Relationships are hard. Loving yourself is sometimes even harder. Ama's book of poetic prose met me in all the nooks and crannies of personal growth work. Such a brave sharing of experiences too many of us have experienced. Highly recommend!"" Dr. Shana V. Hartman
