Every Muslim should have a complete understanding of his religion. The most important source of religious awareness and faith education of the people is the Holy Quran. Sermons, speeches, statements, reform books are all useful in their own place, but none of them can replace the Quran. In every era, the need and importance of a suitable and appropriate translation and commentary of the Quran has been felt and translators/commentators have paid special attention to fulfilling this duty. Mufti Mehmood (1919-1980) was a Pakistani statesman and Islamic scholar who was one of the founding members of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI). He was also the first elected Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and later on as the Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly of Pakistan. He was also one of the principal architects of the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan. Besides his political life, he served as Mufti and issued several important Fatwas. He is also famous for his commentary (Tafseer) of the Holy Quran. This book is a commentary of the first chapter of Quran i.e. Surah Fatihah only from Tafseer-e-Mahmood and compiled by Aijaz Ubaid.
