After escaping his hometown in Central Florida, Ryan began studying to become a chemical engineer. He was sure he would one day be an asteroid miner. Since then, he's worked in tabletop game design, Broadway musical production, and even taught English to middle schoolers. These days, Ryan lives in Oakland with his partner and their dog, which may be a demon. He now works to defend democracy at UC Berkeley, which still doesn't involve chemical engineering. You can find Ryan on the good socials, assuming there are any at the time of this printing.
"""Seven Recipes for Revolution is compelling, riotous, and utterly fresh! The delightful food-based magic is so unlike anything I've ever read in fantasy, and contrasts beautifully with a harsh, blood-soaked world of rigid social rules. Rose writes with an incisive eye that critiques issues of class and politics; the story is in direct conversation with many dark academia tropes, without ever being subsumed by them. Queer love, chef kings, giant monsters, and magical steaks—brilliant stuff!"" —Sunyi Dean, Sunday Times bestselling author of The Book Eaters; ""Tremendously unique; what fantasy needs at the moment."" —Richard Swan, author of the Empire of the Wolf series; ""Seven Recipes for Revolution has all the loving familiarity of classic fantasy in its bones to make a savory stock from, and delivers it with all the comfort of a home cooked meal. Ryan Rose's debut is sure to whet your appetite with its cooking-based magic system, and please your palate with how its courses are served. If you enjoy good food, classic fantasy feeling, and charming nods to the culinary, this is for you."" —R.R. Virdi author of the Tales of Tremaine series; ""Seven Recipes for Revolution is a pulpy, bloody blend of Red Rising, Attack on Titan, and Iron Chef with a splash of delectably detailed magic."" —J.T. Greathouse, author of the Pact and Pattern series"
