I'm Laura Lawrence - a long-time homesteader, educator, and author of Seed to Plate: A Homesteading Gardening Guide and Cookbook. For more than twenty years, I've lived the homesteading life. Alongside my husband and kids. Together, we raise about 85% of our own food organically - from tending our gardens and preserving the harvest to raising animals and crafting nourishing meals from scratch.I wasn't always on this path. Years ago, I was a vegetarian who mostly lived on frozen pizza - but even then, I felt called to go against the grain. I didn't want to follow the direction society said I should. That desire to live differently - to reconnect with what's real, tangible, and nourishing - eventually led me to the garden, to the kitchen, and to the homestead. For years, I quietly lived this way, learning through seasons of trial and triumph. But as the world began to change and people became increasingly disconnected from their food, health, and community, I felt a calling to start teaching. Now, I share what I've learned so others can begin their own journey toward self-sufficiency and food freedom - no matter where they live. Through my talks, workshops, and online community, I help others rediscover the joy and purpose in living close to the land. My goal is simple: to inspire and equip families to grow, preserve, and create a life of abundance - one step, one seed, one meal at a time.
