Scouts: Scouts has been around for over 100 years, when it was first founded in the UK in 1907. Since then, Scouting has evolved into a worldwide movement of young people and adult volunteers and is welcoming of all genders. Scouting provides young people, guided by adult volunteers, the opportunities to participate in programs, events, activities, and projects that contribute to their growth as active citizens. Over the course of the program, they provide increasing opportunities for their members to take the initiative with 'youth leading, adult supporting' one of their fundamental goals. They provide an experience that is all about connecting with the outdoors; building new and existing friendships; learning new skills; and helping create a better world. Scouts South Australia: Scouts SA is part of a global movement with a common purpose to contribute to the development of young people by helping them learn and grow, and to play a constructive role in a global society. The purpose of the Scout Movement is to contribute to the education of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.
