Change is hard in a small Southern town, especially when it brings a side of murder.

All Harvey Beckett wants to do is help the residents of St. Marin's find the perfect book for that moment, snuggle with her hound dog Mayhem, and be ignored by her cat Aslan. But when the small, waterside town's newest resident discovers the body of the community's persnickety reporter in her bookshop storeroom just before her grand opening, Harvey can't help trying to solve the crime, even when it might cost her business and her life. The more questions Harvey asks, the more secrets she uncovers.

Will Harvey and her friends be able to solve the murder of the town reporter without her becoming a victim herself?

This book addresses racism in both the plot and the writing style.

ACF Bookens loves a good mystery, a quaint bookshop, and a good cup of coffee. She lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, where she takes joy in the mountain views and the quiet back roads. She lives with her son Milo and a beautiful rescue hound who inspired Mayhem in her St. Marin's Cozy Mystery Series. Aslan, the cat in her books, is based on her departed first cat by that name, who spent an inordinate amount of time digging up her houseplants. In her books, Bookens addresses issues of justice and writes with intention to disrupt the white supremacy that says that ""whiteness"" is normal by making purposeful note of every character's ethnicity. She is weary of books that assume everyone is white unless the author says otherwise because being white is not the default of reality. Her hope is that readers enjoy escaping into her stories and are challenged, just a little, to make themselves better people and the world a better place from the reading.

Reviews for Publishable By Death: A Cozy Mystery Adventure

Praise for St. Marin's Cozy Mystery Series ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am ready to move to St. Marin's and be part of the IN group. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This charming story includes murder, a collection of friends, a new bookshop in an historical building that used to be a gas station. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ From the start the author has your attention and builds on the storyline very well. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A small town, a new book store, and murder... ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I really appreciate the way the author wove history into her setting. Nothing like cozy mysteries with dogs, a cat, a sweet romance, and a murder or two.
