Counselors are called on by the American Counseling Association (ACA) to be nondiscriminatory in their practice as therapists through the ACA Code of Ethics (ACA, 2014).
While many therapists are able to create a non-discriminatory space when it comes to race, gender and sexual orientation, many individuals within communities that practice non-traditional sexual practices or relationship structures report experiencing ""biased, inadequate, or
inappropriate care (Kolmes, Stock, & Moser, 2006, p. 314)."" This dissertation is an attempt to help these communities find more acceptance within the field of counseling by exploring the experiences of sex positive counselor educators.
