Promoted to the rank of Monsignor, Quixote and his friend Sancho, the ex-mayor of El Toboso and an avid Communist, set off on their travels in the rusty old car they call Rocinante. Together, they roam through modern-day Spain in a brilliant picaresque fable that, like Cervantes' classic, offers enduring insights into our life and times.

Graham Greene was an English novelist and author, widely regarded as one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. Combining literary acclaim with widespread popularity, Greene had acquired a reputation early in his own lifetime as a great writer, both of serious Catholic novels and of thrillers (or entertainments as he termed them). Through 67 years of writings which included over 25 novels, he explored the ambivalent moral and political issues of the modern world through a Catholic perspective. Cyril James Cusack (26 November 1910 - 7 October 1993) was an Irish actor, who appeared in numerous films and television productions in a career lasting more than 70 years.

Reviews for Monsignor Quixote

'A deliciously funny novel and an affectionate offering to all that is noblest and least changing in the people and life of Spain.' -- The Times 'Graham Greene's best, most absorbing, adept and effortless novel.' -- The Spectator 'Monsignor Quixote is important in showing what may be the last stage of the novelist's long argument with himself about the needs, nature and effect of faith.' -- The Times Literary Supplement
