Explore the exceptional interiors of central Melbourne, from the iconic to the hidden, some rarely accessible to the public. Encompassing Victorian, Moderne and Mid-century styles, this book is the first of its kind, examining Melbourne's history and rich culture through its built interiors. From long-standing private clubs to long-lost coffee palaces, Melbourne Heritage Interiors takes an in-depth look at these spaces and the architects, craftspeople and artists who created them.

Insightful historical research is brought to life with over 400 images, including stunning contemporary and evocative archival photographs.

Step beyond the facades and into the heart of Melbourne's architectural and social history, and take a journey through the spaces that have shaped the life and legacy of this remarkable city.

AUTHORS: Kristine Slawinski is an interior designer and heritage consultant and a strong advocate for raising awareness of Melbourne's heritage interiors. Having spent around 20 years as a commercial interior designer, she then undertook postgraduate studies and completed a Master in Urban and Cultural Heritage at the University of Melbourne, for which she was included on the Dean's Honour's List and was awarded the inaugural Gabrielle Moylan Prize. She currently works as a heritage consultant for a national firm. Kristine wrote the text and contributed archival photo research.

Phil Campbell is a Melbourne-based graphic designer, specialising in book design for over 20 years. He has designed many illustrated books, some on architecture and design, such as Carlton, Pioneers of Modernism and Homes in the Sky (Melbourne University Publishing), and Living in History, The Bridge and Sydney's Martin Place (Allen & Unwin). The State Library of Victoria has acquired a collection of his photographs of buildings in rural Victoria for their collection. Phil designed Melbourne Heritage Interiors, took the bulk of the contemporary photographs and contributed photo research for the book.
