Christopher Leonard is a Licensed Psychologist. Dr. Leonard received his Doctor of Psychology degree from Spalding University in 2014. He has been in leadership positions in higher education since 2017. Dr. Leonard has held the positions of an associate director/clinical director and director in university counseling centers. He has over a decade of experience providing therapy and supervising therapists in training.He has presented locally, regionally, and nationally on a variety of psychological topics, including workplace wellness. One of Dr. Leonard's greatest passions is his work as one of the co-founders of Wichita State University's Suspenders4Hope program, a comprehensive suicide prevention training program that has been adopted by universities and local and regional industries across the United States. As the original ""Dr. Suspenders,"" he knows firsthand how supportive relationships can instill hope in individuals and communities. Dr. Leonard was the 2025 recipient of the Wichita State University Wayne Carlisle Distinguished Service Award. In 2025, he received the inaugural Transformational Leader Award from the Wichita State University Division of Student Affairs.
