Insulin in Sports: A Powerful Tool That Delivers Results in the Right Hands

This book offers a detailed exploration of insulin's role in sports and athletic recovery. Far beyond its well-known function in regulating blood sugar, insulin can serve as a valuable performance support mechanism when used correctly. It holds the potential to enhance recovery, optimize nutrient use, and support muscle development.

Written by an experienced expert in sports pharmacology, this guide provides a thorough overview of how insulin functions in the body, how it interacts with other hormones, and what factors influence its safe and effective use in training settings. The book also addresses key risks and misconceptions, while offering practical, real-world insights based on decades of hands-on work with athletes.

Whether you're new to the subject or already familiar with advanced performance strategies, this book presents a clear, grounded, and science-based perspective on how insulin can be approached with responsibility and understanding.

Yuri Bombela was born in the USSR in 1962. When he turned twenty-four, he developed an interest in bodybuilding. However, after failing to achieve much success in the competition, he switched to training other athletes, at the same time becoming interested in sports pharmacology. The passion was so strong that Yuri devoted the rest of his life to it, and today he is the leading specialist in this field in Eastern Europe. Sports pharmacology soon became intertwined with a passion for writing. Between 2004 and 2011, Yuri Bombela held the position of editor-in-chief at Zheleznyi Mir magazine. While doing so, he continued to coach athletes, with Alexey Shabunya, Vasily Remizov, Bogdan Kravchenko, Dmitry Sushko, and Dmitry Koyava among his trainees. The year 2008 marked the release of Yuri Bombela's first book focusing on sports pharmacology. Currently, he has authored 12 books (not only in the field of sports pharmacology, but also in the field of sports nutrition), and more than a thousand articles.
