Red Lagoe grew up on 80s horror and carried her paranoia of slashers and sewer creatures into adulthood. She is the author of the forthcoming novel, Bloodstains by Gaslight (Brigids Gate Press 2024). She has authored three horror collections including Impulses of a Necrotic Heart, Lucid Screams, and Dismal Dreams. Red is the editor of the anthology Nightmare Sky: Stories of Astronomical Horror. As a staff writer for Crystal Lake Publishing's Still Water Bay series, she authored several contributing stories, and dozens of her other short stories have been published in various anthologies. When Red is not creating, you may find her falling into a pit of despair, enveloped by an all-consuming darkness. Or she may be kayaking with her family, walking her dog, or lounging beneath a starry sky with a telescope.

Reviews for In Excess of Dark

"""IN EXCESS OF DARK is a dark, tightly written journey through the nightmare of an all-too relatable mind. Red Lagoe has crafted a fast-paced tale of inner darkness, casting a light on the shadows we all carry. Karina's slide into guilt and despair is woven with brutal and increasing terror, written with Lagoe's deft touch for scene, atmosphere and emotion. A fantastic novella."" - Laurel Hightower, author of Crossroads and Below ""A somber and deeply upsetting escalation of weirdness, Red Lagoe's 'In Excess of Dark' is a serrated examination of love, loss, and death. These elements intertwine flawlessly in a disturbing vision of grief from a fresh and audacious voice in horror fiction."" - Eric LaRocca, author of Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke and Other Misfortunes ""Like Pet Sematary before it, In Excess of Dark is a sad and often shocking meditation on the devastating impact of grief. It's also Red Lagoe's finest book to date--a terrifying tale of loss and hereditary darkness that will keep you enthralled right up to the shocking, skin-crawling conclusion."" - Kealan Patrick Burke, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Kin and Sour Candy"
