Reviews for Him, Me, and V: Based on a true story of child abuse, survival, and healing.

One of the most raw books of abuse I have ever read, your heart just aches for all the ways a human protects itself and manages to survive. There are so many people who know abuse happens and choose to ignore it. Family, neighbors, school, church, community. They all failed her...all of them. Amy I pray that you know that you are worthy, loved, and that this world is filled with amazing people even though your childhood was so dark and evil. B. Wells This *the* most difficult book of courage and strength I have ever read. The egregious life this person endured is unspeakable, yet the author describes it painfully well. Bless you for turning your mess into your message. You and victims of this abuse will *forever * be in my daily prayers. A tough read, a good read, a life changing, eye opening story of courage, bravery and strength. C.P. This is an excellent book! Not because it's written perfectly or because it's a happy, feel-good book. The story itself is super heartbreaking and difficult read, but the WAY it's written (in such a raw and imperfect style), draws the reader to want to keep reading more. I finished it in like 3 days. At times, I had questions about what was going on and which child was telling her story, but that's literally the reason the book is so good! When we recall things from childhood, it's just bits and pieces...sometimes the majority of the memory comes from a photograph of us. The beautiful part of the story, in my humble opinion, is that the author tells us (without coming right out and telling us) the many, many ways WE can identify, report, and do something about child abuse in our neighborhood, school, church, and family. The other beautiful part of this story is that it does a great job giving the reader a picture of how the author survived and didn't allow the darkness to win. I truly believe that God protects those going through evil atrocities by guarding the mind. Side note: how amazing is it that the author chose to write her story, even though the abuser is still alive?!?! Talk about strength!!! Fowl51
