In his most exhilarating novel yet, Britain's greatest storyteller transports you from the vibrant streets of sixties London, as an accidental spy is drawn into the shadows of espionage and obsession . . .

Gabriel Dax is a young man haunted by the memories of a tragedy- every night, when sleep finally comes, he dreams about his childhood home in flames. His days are spent on the move as an acclaimed travel writer, capturing changing landscapes in the grip of the Cold War. When he's offered the chance to interview a political figure, his ambition leads him unwittingly into a web of duplicities and betrayals.

As Gabriel's reluctant initiation takes hold, he is drawn deeper into the shadows. Falling under the spell of Faith Green, an enigmatic and ruthless MI6 handler, he becomes 'her spy', unable to resist her demands. But amid the peril, paranoia and passion consuming Gabriel's new covert life, it will be the revelations closer to home that change the rest of his story. . .

Reviews for Gabriel's Moon

Masterly. Boyd takes such obvious, infectious pleasure in telling his story, bounding along just in front of the reader, scattering clues and red herrings. I’m not sure that there’s a more reliably entertaining novelist working today. * The Observer * A new William Boyd novel is always a pleasure, and this is a read that will keep you completely hooked to the very last page. * Financial Times * A novel satisfyingly stuffed with incident, Cold War history, romance and any number of mysteries * The Spectator * A cinematic tale of globe-troting adventure and hugely enjoyable cold war espionage. * Guardian * What Boyd has written undoubtedly reinforces him as one of Britain's most talented and readable novelists writing today * Independent * Boyd is brilliant at writing these great sweeping books. He is at the top of his game: he really does combine really fine writing with absolutely riveting storytelling. -- Monty Don Boyd's signature investigation of human connections is always compelling. It’s one of those books that’s kept me thinking. -- S J Bennett A spy novel with heart, William Boyd takes the reader on a thrilling journey of espionage, secrets and obsession. An absolute must-read. -- Lisa Hall Clever plotting, wry wit and evocative storytelling combine in this hugely enjoyable read from a master of the spy thriller working here at the top of his game. -- Brian McGilloway Boyd writes with a limber sensuality, drawing the reader, word by word, into his web. A delight from start to finish. -- Parker Bilal
