Mary S. King was raised in Vermont in the early 1950s, a time when life moved at a gentler pace and family bonds were deeply rooted. As the eldest of four children, she embraced responsibility early, helping care for her siblings while her mother worked and her father returned home after serving in World War II.Her childhood was shaped by a modest family farm nestled in the heart of town-home to cows, chickens, pigs, and turkeys, along with a garden that demanded daily care. From pulling weeds to harvesting fresh vegetables, these early experiences instilled in her a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for simple, meaningful living.Mary attended Catholic schools from kindergarten through college, an education that helped shape her values and perspective. Though naturally reserved, she has always found her voice when it matters most.While pursuing her college education, Mary worked at A&P, beginning a long and dedicated career. After graduating, she spent four years at Tansitor before returning to A&P, where she served as head cashier for over three decades. Following the company's closure, she continued her professional journey as a bookkeeper at Bennington Cooling & Heating, where she worked for 28 years.In 1962, Mary met the love of her life. After four years of courtship, he proposed and soon after joined the Marine Corps. On September 3, 1966, they were married-marking the beginning of a lifelong partnership built on love, resilience, and devotion.Mary's story is one of quiet strength, enduring commitment, and a life richly lived through family, faith, and perseverance.
