ABBEY'S BOOKSELLER PICK ----- The nice thing about an A-Z book on geology is it doesn’t have to flub the difficult consonants! Q is Quarry, X is Xenolith and Z is Zircon...

Each double page spread takes a letter of the alphabet and explains in a conversational and entertaining way a geological concept relating to Australia. Where appropriate it includes Indigenous knowledge or uses and each entry is situated on a map that acknowledges the First Nation Country where it occurs. There is a fun or interesting fact box on each entry; simple diagrams show geological processes; and the illustrations are softly coloured and show landscapes and specimens. A comprehensive glossary explains more scientific terms.

Exactly the sort of book any young rock-hound aged 7-12 would enjoy!  Lindy
