Bobbie Watts, PhD, CPE, is a recognized expert with over 27 years of experience in Industrial Engineering and Ergonomics/Human Factors. She holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University, as well as a master’s and PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Auburn University. Her career includes key roles such as Corporate Human Factors Engineer at UPS, consultant for USPS and American Express, Corporate Ergonomics Manager at Coca-Cola Refreshments, and Director of Ergonomics for Michelin Americas. In her current role as an Innovation Initiative Leader and Start-up Founder within Michelin, Dr Watts is dedicated to developing assistive technologies that improve mobility freedom for wheelchair users. Driven by a passion for improving the quality of life for workers and end users through ergonomics, Dr Watts focuses on designing environments and technologies that are inclusive, equitable, and accessible to all. As a Riley Diversity Leadership Institute Fellow, she advocates for a more diverse and inclusive approach to ergonomics, ensuring that all individuals, regardless of background or ability, benefit from advancements in workplace design. She also served as President of the IISE Applied Ergonomics Society, where she emphasized the importance of equity and inclusion within the ergonomics community.
