It is almost 25 years since the idea of dark tourism was introduced and presented into the field of tourism studies. Rami K. Isaac is Senior Lecturer in Tourism at the Breda University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands. He was born in Palestine and did his undergraduate studies in the Netherlands, graduate studies in the UK, and has earned his PhD from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. His research interests are in tourism development and management, critical theory, and political aspects of tourism. He published numerous articles and book chapters on tourism and political (in)stability, occupation, tourism and war, dark tourism, violence, and transformational tourism.
