""Growing up in the Air Force it was the military chaplains who cared for my dad and the five of us children during a traumatic time in our lives. All over the world, it is the chaplains who carry the cloak of God's love and care for military personnel and their families. This book cares for the chaplains. As a chaplain himself, Lawson understands the unique leadership and pastoral challenges of military chaplaincy. Lawson has the experience, giftedness, and grace to address their need for spiritual growth. Beautifully written with heart and intelligence, he describes six practical and formational steps to becoming healthy and humble spiritual leaders. I highly recommend this book to the gifted men and women who serve as our military chaplains and to those who train and support them."" --MaryKate Morse, Professor of Leadership and Spiritual Formation, Portland Seminary ""Carriers of the Cloak is an informative and insightful overview of chaplaincy. This is that book that anyone becoming a chaplain must have in their desk reference library. This is the premier resource for every chaplain as a guide to their daily life and ministry."" --Randall 'Chappie' E. Kitchens, Chaplain, Major General, USAF, Retired
