"Bridge is a wonderful game. It is interesting, challenging and frustrating all at the same time. It keeps your brain active and alert and it gives you an opportunity to create new and lasting friendships with like-minded people. ""It is rare to find a bridge book that combines simplicity with comprehensive cover of all the basic rules of bridge, and yet this book does exactly that. George builds a solid foundation for the beginner by going through the bidding sequences step by step in a logical and orderly fashion and then presenting examples to show how those steps actually work. I can highly recommend this for those who want to learn the basics. It is also ideal for those who have played and now want to rekindle and update their skills. The book will also work nicely as a manual for teachers who teach beginners."" - Marty Bergen"

The author has played bridge for well over 20 years now. He became a bridge director in 2003 and an accredited bridge teacher in 2009. He lives in Avoca Beach on the Central Coast of NSW in Australia together with his partner, Anne Moody. They both retired in January 2013, the author was an accountant and Anne was a registered nurse. At that time they decided to embark on a new career as bridge instructors onboard cruise ships. It turned out to be a very successful decision. Together they have travelled all over the world with many different cruise lines. They have mixed with people from many different countries and a variety of cultures, whilst all the time doing what they love the most-playing bridge.
