Reviews for Big Hid

Tender and vibrant illustrations and a sweet, sweet friendship are a good start. What happens after Big hides? -- Jileen Moore * Square Books * A refreshing story about friendship and the sensitive complexity of it at a level that even the youngest of children can appreciate. Sometimes what we all need is for those we love most to pause and just give us a hug for no reason in particular. * Wandering Bookseller * Swales's wide-eyed figures and simple shapes recall Chris Haughton's work, with extra volume and detail. * Publishers Weekly * Bold colours and limited text make it an engaging read for younger readers. -- Sliceofbookishlife on Instagram A charming little tale with a meaningful message. -- Eyfs_books_and_things A wonderful tale of friendship and overcoming sadness. -- Posies_book_club on Instagram As stylish as it is sweet. -- Teenyreaders on Instagram A delight to the eye. -- Thekidsbookstagrammer on Instagram The illustrative style and the bright and bold, orange and purple colour palette brings these two gorgeous characters to life. -- @mrsbrownsbookbox on Instagram This is a really simple but poignant tale about friendship. -- Ivy's Library Roisin Swales' debut is a bold and beautiful package, with a poignant and timely message for a young audience. * Picture Books Blogger * Swales's illustrations are wonderfully effective. Bold colours in a striking palette grab the attention of little readers, with background colours carefully changing to depict change of pace and mood as Big Hid progresses. -- My Book Corner
