Series: Inspector Faro
The year is 1864 and Detective Inspector Faro's idyllic life has been shattered by the escape of convicted murderer John McLaw. With countless dead end sightings of the killer and further criminal activity Faro realises that this case is far more complicated than he had first assumed. When the disappearance of a maid comes to light, Faro begins to think there could be a link between her disappearance and the murder of Annie McLaw. His determination to unearth the truth becomes personal and in a race against time to solve the anonymities of the case, he takes matters into his own hands.

Reviews for Akin to Murder (Faro #18)

This book (the 18th in the series) has many twists and turns as it explores the depths of the complex relationships of the characters within its covers. It shows that sometimes doing the wrong thing for the correct reason can bring just reward, but at a cost. This is a thoroughly engaging and satisfying read. --Historical Novels Review It's ingeniously plotted, weaving the mysterious Charlie that Vince befriends with a missing housemaid, an old lady's coffin being opened to reveal stones, and an escaped murderer that Faro's boss, the unpleasant Inspector Gosse, is determined to capture... A treat for Inspector Faro's many fans, and a good place to start if you enjoy historical crime, and haven't met him yet. --Marsali Taylor Promoting Crime Fiction
