I find this book educational for patients who are newly diagnosed or have been coping with bipolar disorder for years and want to change the course of their lives. This book gives you suggestions on how to find a psychiatrist and work with them. There are many good concepts in learning how to give feedback on your medications and the danger of stopping taking them and ending up back to square one. Talk Therapy will help you to learn positive ways to think, process your life, and learn to live a better life. Troy talks of the benefits of online and DBSA support groups for peer support. Learn about mood diaries and good books that may also help. You'll need to become your own best advocate!

This book is well organized in a concise style outlining how to better understand and avoid the road to destruction. I cannot emphasize enough the need to understand what is happening to you or a loved one. This is a well-thought-out endeavor by this author, who has battled bipolar disorder for over 25 years. Having gone the long road Troy wants to help others avoid the pitfalls he had to endure.
