The flood of the title refers to a cataclysmic event wherein a dam near an overseas mining operation collapses, wiping out a nearby village with much loss of life (side note: in an eerie parallel, recent news featured Avon dam in NSW and the threat that planned coal mining operations might pose). As the ramifications of the event become apparent, the story draws in themes of corporate responsibility and social protest. Meanwhile Clement heads up a baffling murder investigation after a death by crucifixion. No need to have read earlier books from the series - each mystery stands well on its own. Dave Warner is an author, musician and screenwriter. After the Flood is his eleventh adult novel. Dave first came to national prominence in 1978 with his gold album, Mug's Game, and his band Dave Warner's from the Suburbs. He has been named a Western Australian State Living Treasure and has been inducted into the WAMi Rock'n'Roll of Renown.
