Travelling Europe in 1973 was vastly different from today. Imagine no smartphones, internet, Facebook, ATM machines, credit cards, Google translate or GPS mapping. Each country was a separate entity; the European Union had not been formed and a single currency had not yet been established. Individual countries required passport and customs clearance before entry.

Messages and news from home were always weeks out of date and there were no instant pictures to send home. Most photography had to wait until your return, and then several days' wait for processing.

Travel back through these times with a couple of Australian mates in a hilarious journey around Europe in a beat-up old Volkswagen Kombi van named Blue. Each day a new adventure, a new challenge, from wild bears in Switzerland to, a bull¬fight in Madrid and an opera in Munich.

Then live through the tumultuous year 1974 while working in England, dodging IRA bombings, a miners' strike, and 3-day rolling electricity restrictions followed by a general election and a royal wedding.

Share a white Xmas in Canada followed by a 30-day non-stop tour around the USA on a Greyhound bus, sleeping on the bus at night and sightseeing during the day. From being locked in solitary confinement in Alcatraz prison to starring on a Hollywood film set. Every day was a day of self-discovery and personal development, finally ending when a life-changing decision would had to be made.
