Laura Lee Benson has been writing about the world around her for as long as she can remember. She grew up in a home filled with pets and wrote stories and poems about nature and the animals that she loved. She earned her B.A. in psychology and is certified in early childhood education. Laura first became interested in writing for children when she sought to combine her love for children with her love for literature. Her first book, THIS IS OUR EARTH, reflects her concerns about the environment. She is an advocate for environmental issues and believes that it is important for today's children to take an interest in the future of tomorrow's world. Laura is a member of several environmental and animal welfare organizations. Her interests include writing, reading, and working with children. She currently lives in Maryland.

Reviews for This Is Our Earth

From the reviews of earlier editions -
This is a book that should be found in any physics library. It is extremely useful for all graduate students, Ph.D. students and researchers interested in the quantum physics of light.
(Daniela Dragoman, OPTICS & PHOTONIC NEWS)

Well-written and useful book containing a broad coverage of the basic elements of quantum optics ... brings together seemingly unrelated topics ... through a cogent unified presentation.
(PHYSICS TODAY)
