Highly original story about children overcoming adult snobbery, told in four voices and illustrated by Browne's unique, surreal artwork.

Four different voices tell their own versions of the same walk in the park. The radically different perspectives give a fascinating depth to this simple story which explores many of the author's key themes, such as alienation, friendship and the bizarre amid the mundane.

Anthony Browne's world-renowned artwork is full of expressive gorillas, vibrant colours and numerous nods to Magritte and other artists, while being uniquely Browne's own style.

Reviews for Voices in the Park

A well-dressed mother takes her son Charles for a walk in the park with their pedigree Labrador and worries when the dog is chased by a scruffy-looking mongrel and she sees Charles talking to a rough looking child. At the same time an unemployed father takes his daughter Smudge and their scruffy mongrel Albert to the same park. The dogs and children have a great time. The story is told in four voices, each parent and child giving their own perspective on the same event. There is much to think about in this wonderfully illustrated story. (Kirkus UK)
