Philip Kerr was born in Edinburgh, and now divides his time between London and Cornwall. A former advertising copywriter, his first novel was published in 1989. He is the author of more than twenty books, including seven Bernie Gunther novels. In 2009 he won the British Crime Writers Association Ellis Peters Historical Fiction Award for the Bernie Gunther series.
