STELLA PRIZE 2019

February 11, 2019

STELLA Prize

The $50,000 Stella Prize is presented for the best work of literature, fiction or nonfiction by an Australian woman.

The winner of the 2019 Stella Prize is Vicki Laveau-Harvie for her gripping memoir, The Erratics. The winning book elegantly met all the Stella Prize requirements: it is excellent, engaging and original in spades. It is moving and funny, and is as powerful for what it leaves out. It is also Laveau-Harvie's first book. The prize was awarded Tuesday 9 April at Arts Centre Melbourne. Laveau-Harvie receives $50,000 sponsored this year by National Australia Bank.
