Who am I? Why am I here? What is my purpose? How can I make a difference? These questions have to do with the topic of vocation. Vocation is more than what one does for a living in terms of one's career. Vocation is a lens that helps believers see the larger story of who they are regarding their calling with God through faith in Jesus and how they are called to love and serve their neighbors through their everyday callings. But how can one personally and practically apply this relevant teaching of the church to the daily lives of believers? The answer is found in coaching! Coaches and ministry leaders seeking to help everyday believers find purpose and meaning in their lives will find this book invaluable. The research and practical tools contained within serve as a """"technical manual"""" to Guse's first book, Called2B. This book provides a biblical and theological framework for understanding how coaching can empower believers to discover and live out their authentic calling in Christ in their daily lives to make a greater kingdom impact in their different stations of life--Family, Church, Lifework, and Society. Reviews for Who Have You Been Called to Be?

""With the mindset of a coach, the heart of a pastor, and the wisdom of a theologian, Dr. Travis Guse offers a rich exploration of the fruitful interplay of calling and identity for today's Christ-follower. This is a valuable resource for coaching others to find their place in God's world."" --Chad Hall, president, Coach Approach Ministries ""I love the way that Travis Guse utilizes coaching as a tool for personalized discipleship. This is a brilliant strategy! The key contribution of Who Have You Been Called to Be? is the way it draws on Martin Luther's theologically rich teaching on vocation to coach people into living out their calling in Christ. If you are committed to discipling others, this book is for you."" --Steven D. Mathewson, former director, Doctor of Ministry program, Western Seminary, Portland, Oregon ""Perhaps we all set out with a dream of what we want to be and do when we grow up. But how many of us actually become the person we hope to be and do the work we set out to do? And for people of faith, where does God fit in with our vocation? Rev. Dr. Travis Guse offers a practical, wisdom-filled, and Christ-centered path toward vocational discernment. Your most fulfilled self awaits you as you set out on this worthwhile journey with Travis and the timeless wisdom of Protestant Reformer Martin Luther."" --Paul M. Burns, pastor, coach, and author Becoming Spiritually Intelligent: Nine Paths toward Your Most Loving Self ""It only took 500+ years but vocational coaching's time has come! . . . Dr. Guse brings decades of pastoral ministry experience together with coaching competency to share a framework that can inspire and rejuvenate Jesus followers on their vocational journey. I recommend this book to anyone who finds themselves and/or members of their faith family searching for greater alignment between their faith and their work."" --Jane Creswell, master certified coach, author of Christ-Centered Coaching and Coaching for Excellence ""Blending biblical principles with modern coaching strategies, this book offers practical wisdom grounded in Scripture, and it has reshaped how I approach coaching others. A must read for Christian leaders and mentors!"" --Ben Griffin, CEO of LINC Ministries ""Until recently, so few counselors and coaches have tried to integrate Luther's Christ-centered theology into today's culture and personal concerns. Luther's theology is a soul care theology, and Guse has gifted us with his insights into how that theology can be used to coach people to make wise and faith-filled vocational decisions. I was a career counselor earlier in my life and wish that this book had been available to me then. I am so pleased that Guse has helped to add these badly needed insights."" --Rick Marrs, licensed psychologist, senior professor, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis ""Coaching once saved my vocation as a Christian leader. During a time of disillusionment and even despair, my coach walked with me to a deeper understanding of Christ's gracious call on my life. This thoughtful guide by my classmate and friend, Travis Guse, will help followers of Jesus understand why they need a coach. As a theologian, Travis will also lead you to a transformative understanding of the Bible's teaching on vocation."" --Ben Haupt, global executive director, PLI
