With themes of faith, queerness, Blackness, womanhood, heartbreak, and healing, Where I Arrived is a poetry collection about love in its many forms.

With honesty and poetic storytelling, Takayla P. Carlton (TK) captures the complexities of intersectional life and the resilience of choosing love anyway. The collection begins with the illusions of desire and longing, moving toward a deeper knowing of love that is lasting, spiritual, and whole. At the end of each chapter, readers will find a surprise meant to extend the journey beyond the page, offering space for reflection, affirmation, and transformation.

Takayla P. Carlton, poetically known as TK, discovered the transformative power of poetry as a means of navigating the depths of mental health. Initially kept private as a form of personal survival, her poetry has evolved into an expression of emotions and gratitude. Venturing into the realm of public sharing in 2023, TK realized that her words were not just for herself but meant to be shared with others. In her poetry, she seamlessly blends the sacred and the secular, often utilizing alliteration and vivid imagery to craft evocative verses. Inspired by her experiences and the diverse communities to which she belongs, TK's work aims to provoke introspection and provide representation, particularly for marginalized voices within the female, queer, and Black communities. Alongside her poetic pursuits, TK finds joy in spending time with her nieces and nephews, running, fishing, and acting. Holding a bachelor's degree in Theatre, she continues to explore the intersections of art, identity, and self-expression through her poetry, hoping to fulfill its divine purpose within her readers.
