The one hundred treasures in Waterfalls of Newfoundland and Labradorare divided into six easy-to-read geographic areas: Avalon Peninsula, Burin and Bonavista Peninsulas, Central Newfoundland, Western Newfoundland, Great Northern Peninsula, and Labrador. Along with the name and type of waterfall, each entry includes useful information about access points; difficulty and distance of the hike from the trailhead; land ownership; the best seasons to visit; and the source, height, and elevation of the fall itself.

Steve Faulkner is a hiker, skier, mountain biker, kayaker, and photographer who lived and worked in Newfoundland and Labrador for more than a decade. Originally from Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia, he first went to Newfoundland in 1988 as a field geologist, to work primarily around the Great Northern Peninsula. It was there that his deep appreciation for the natural beauty of “The Rock” first formed. When the opportunity presented itself several years later, Faulkner jumped at the chance to move back to the province as an RCMP officer; he was fortunate to have postings in the east, west, and central regions of Newfoundland and in Labrador, during which he sought out many of its great waterfalls.
