Water, Land, and Forest Susceptibility and Sustainability: Geospatial Approaches and Modeling brings an interdisciplinary perspective to solving complex problems in sustainability, utilizing the latest research, technologies, and case studies. The text covers forest, land, and water resources, presenting an integrated perspective on their characterization, susceptibility, and sustainability. The book explains applications of remote sensing, GIS, and image processing for addressing the current state and future needs for sustainability. This volume encourages adaptive activities among experts in interdisciplinary fields-including data mining, machine learning, and environmental science-by linking geospatial computational intelligence technology to forest, land, and water issues.

Dr. Uday Chatterjee is an Applied Geographer with a Post-Graduate degree in Applied Geography at Utkal University and Doctoral Degrees in Applied Geography at Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, Odisha, India. He has contributed many research papers published in various reputed national and international journals and edited book volumes. He has co-edited one book and is a member of 8 academic societies. His areas of research interest include urban planning, social and human geography, applied geomorphology, hazards and disasters, environmental issues, land use, and rural development. Currently Dr. Uday Chatterjee is Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography, Bhatter College, India. Distinguished Professor Biswajeet Pradhan (Senior Member, IEEE) is an internationally established Scientist in the fields of climate-induced natural hazards, geospatial information systems (GIS); complex modelling; and spatial data mining. Since 2015, he has been serving as the Ambassador Scientist for the Alexander Humboldt Foundation, Germany. He has published more than 550 articles and has authored/edited eight books and 13 book chapters. He has received 55 awards in recognition of his excellence in teaching, service, and research, since 2006. He was also a recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship from Germany. From 2016 to 2018, he was listed as the World's Most Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics Report as one of the world's most influential mind. He is also an Associate Editor and an Editorial Member of more than eight ISI journals. Dr. Suresh Kumar is Scientist-SG & Group Head for the Agriculture & Soils Department at Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Govt. of India, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). He has 27 years of experience in applications of geospatial technologies in natural resource management with specialization in soil resource management, land degradation, and watershed management. He has published more than 50 research papers and 7 book chapters. He has attended several International Conferences and National Seminar/ Symposium and delivered invited lead talk in the seminar/symposium. He has also carried out several research projects as PI / Co-I, such as: FAO-AEZ based Agricultural Land Use Planning; National Soil Carbon Pool Assessment, Soil Carbon Dynamic (SCD) Studies, Mountain Ecosystem Processes and Services: Studying impact of Soil Erosion and Nutrient Loss and its impact on Soil Quality; Digital soil mapping using environmental covariates for mountainous region etc. Dr. Sourav Saha is a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Saha is an early career scientist who recently completed his Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati, USA. He also taught several Geology courses as an adjunct faculty member at Northern Kentucky University, USA. His research interests are focused on the use of geomorphic, geochronologic, remote sensing, and sedimentary tools to quantify surface processes, landscape evolution, paleoseismic, and paleoclimatic changes. His goal is to understand the dynamic interaction between climate, tectonics, and landscapes, especially in environmentally sensitive regions. He uses and develops a variety of geochronometers, especially luminescence and cosmogenic surface exposure dating techniques. He is also a member of the Geological Society of America, the American Geophysical Union, the American Quaternary Association, and several other international organizations. Dr. Mohammad Zakwan is presently working as an Assistant Professor in Maulana Azad National University, Hyderabad, India. He has published numerous papers and has a demonstrated history of working in Water Resource Engineering. He has been serving as an editorial board member and reviewer for various journals. His research interests include modelling of infiltration, modelling river water quality, sediment rating curves, stage discharge curves, computation of effective discharge and dominant discharge, climate change, trend analysis in water resources, river engineering, hydraulics, and hydrology of rivers. Dr. Mohammad Zakwan was a recipient of Gold medals during his M.Tech and B.Tech. He was awarded MHRD GATE scholarship and CSIR NET JRF scholarship for his M.Tech and PhD, respectively.
