He was Secretary General of the International Human Frontier Science Program Organization, Chief Executive Officer of the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia, and Chair of the Global Biodata Coalition. He is Emeritus Professor, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Monash University
