UN 2.0 and the Metaverse: Are we seeing what is possible? by Dr Anita Lamprecht explores one of today's most urgent questions: how can global governance keep pace with rapid technological change? Drawing on the UN's Pact for the Future and the Global Digital Compact, the book examines the fragile yet essential dialogue between a modernised United Nations and the disruptive forces of the metaverse.

Blending futures thinking, systems analysis, and narrative storytelling, Dr Lamprecht takes readers inside this evolving relationship, where progress and governance must align to serve humanity. From the Citiverse and digital twins to adaptive governance, legal challenges, and the sustainable development goals, the book offers both a critical lens and a hopeful framework. It is an invitation to policymakers, technologists, and citizens alike to consciously shape the future, ensuring innovation becomes a force for inclusivity, trust, and human rights.

At its heart, the book argues that the metaverse should not be seen as a finished product but as a North Star, a guiding vision that can help societies navigate uncertainty, build stronger institutions, and co-evolve technology with human values. It equips readers with the conceptual tools needed to diagnose governance failures and design adaptive, ethical approaches for the decades ahead.
