Shanelle Porter-Simmons is a retired US Marine Corps lieutenant colonel who was the first African American woman to command a Marine Corps recruiting station. During two decades of service, she became one of only eleven African American women to achieve her rank and lead Marines in a combat zone.A Hall-of-Fame athlete, she was a professional 400-meter sprinter and three-time NCAA Division I Champion.A lifelong student of growth and performance, Porter-Simmons holds a bachelor's in biology and two master's degrees in leadership and military science as well as certifications in human resources and project management. As an accomplished speaker known for her work on leadership and personal reinvention, she helps others break free from comfort and rediscover purpose at every stage of life.
