Journey into the darkest corners of the human psyche with twelve meticulously researched accounts of unspeakable crimes that shocked communities and challenged our understanding of evil. From sprawling estates to quiet small towns, these cases reveal how murderous intent can hide behind the most ordinary facades-sometimes in places we least expect.

A sampling of the stories includes:

The Butcher of Aberdeen - In a quiet Australian town, a troubled woman with a history of violence transforms from slaughterhouse worker to something far more sinister. When her partner tries to leave, she commits an act so grotesque that even veteran police officers are left traumatized.

The House on Langworthy Road - A desperate teenage girl seeking acceptance finds herself at the mercy of a group of sadistic tormentors. For seven horrifying days, they subject her to unimaginable suffering before their final act of cruelty on a remote hillside.

The Unraveling - A young mother entered a Stanford chapel to pray-and never came home. For forty-four years, her killer walked free while her family searched for answers-until a forgotten clue finally revealed the truth.

The Dark Web Assassin - When investigators discovered someone had paid thousands in cryptocurrency to have a Minnesota woman killed, they traced the digital trail. But what they uncovered was far more shocking than anyone had imagined.

The Greek Pilot - A charming helicopter pilot promised a fairy-tale life to his teenage bride. But when their perfect world began to crack, the truth horrified a nation and exposed the monster hiding in plain sight.

Apartment 9 - She thought she was safe. A quiet college town, a secure apartment near law enforcement, and a life filled with promise. But when a friend walked through her unlocked door, she stumbled into a nightmare-blood on the floor, the overwhelming scent of bleach, and a body left in the entryway. As investigators closed in, they uncovered a predator hiding in plain sight, his past more twisted than anyone could have imagined.

Plus, many more shocking true crime stories, including three bonus chapters at the end.

These cases expose the depths of human depravity-glimpses into the abyss of pure evil. While we may never fully comprehend what drives killers to commit such heinous acts, studying these histories provides valuable insights into the darkest capabilities of the human mind.

Jason Neal is a bestselling American true crime author living in Hawaii with his wife, who writes women's fiction as G.T. London. Jason started his writing career in 1989 as a music industry publisher and wrote his first true crime collection in 2019. His books have won the Kindle All-Star Award ten times. As a boy growing up in the 80s just south of Seattle, Jason became intrigued with true crime stories after hearing the news of the Green River Killer so close to his home. Over the following years, he read everything he could get his hands on about true crime and serial killers. As he approached 50, Jason began to assemble stories of the cases that had fascinated him most throughout his life. He's especially obsessed with cases solved by sheer luck, amazing police work, groundbreaking technology like early DNA cases, and, more recently, reverse genealogy.
