Jim Duddleston has a God-given passion for carefully studying the Scriptures to help others understand and a passion for cross cultural ministry, teaching the New Testament in Sweden for fifteen years at both a seminary and a Bible college. For the past fourteen years he and his wife, Eeva, have hosted students from Asia and the Gulf countries specializing in understanding Islam with the goal of communicating the gospel to Muslims with wisdom and compassion.
""In this thought-provoking book, Jim Duddleston presents a deeply personal reading of Acts 1-15 that integrates a close reading of the narrative with personal experiences from traveling the same routes the risen Lord's apostles did . . . Whether you share Duddleston's approach to Acts or his personal witness to the relevance of its narrative message for today's evangelical congregations, his reading provides a faithful example of a devotional yet critically informed commentary of one of scripture's most important narratives."" --Robert W. Wall, The Paul T. Wall Chair Emeritus of Scripture, Seattle Pacific University and Seminary ""What a captivating tour of both the text and terrain of the Book of Acts! With a playful mix of images, personal accounts, and well-studied commentary, Duddleston immerses his readers in the world of Acts, inviting us to join the apostles' journey, not only as students of the Bible but as followers of Jesus and Spirit-filled participants in God's mission."" --Chris Currie, Lead Pastor, Resurrection Philadelphia ""If your desire is to mine the Book of Acts for its richness but you are not an academic, journey along with Jim Duddleston as he and his companions walk through the Book of Acts and the Middle East in the footsteps of Luke and the Apostles. In a very personal and winsome manner this travelogue will open your eyes to those ancient lands as well as to the dynamic spiritual truths embedded within the Book of Acts, truths that are intended to form and transform our lives."" --Patrick Krayer, Mentor for Doctor of Global Leadership Cohort, Fuller Theological Seminary ""As the title of Jim Duddleston's book suggests, this is a beautiful invitation to become a personal traveler through the book of Acts. . . . This book is an invitation to genuinely explore two significant questions: What is the Church and its purpose? What is the gospel? The intermingling of personal travel experiences with a thoughtful study of Acts means that the reader sometimes laughs out loud while also being deeply moved by the invitation to behold what is beautiful about God's Kingdom. Duddeston successfully accomplishes this with winsome writing, good storytelling, and the understanding of the power of place to illuminate the biblical text and to evoke empathy with the historical characters in Acts."" --Cyndi Parker, Director of Education and Conversation, Resurrection Philadelphia
