In 1925, in a small town in rural Missouri, Jeroldine Heifner was the captain of the Women's Basketball Team at Farmington High School. The team was
County champions that year, but the story of how Jeroldine got to be team captain as a 20-year-old high school senior, the challenges the team faced, the hardships of being a female athlete in 1926 and the choices open to women all came to bear on
Jeroldine.
The basketball principal of ""To Get and Hold Position"" defined Jeroldine's life, both on and off the court, guiding her into adulthood, helping her navigate tough decisions, and leading her to question women's roles in 1920's society.
Remembered as the 'Scandal of the Family"", Jeroldine was judged, shunned, diminished and silenced throughout her lifetime. This is Jeroldine's story, but it
really isn't very different from many of our stories.
