Inspired by her own life experiences of God’s extraordinary timing, this book examines Jesus’ first coming celebrated at Christmas through the spectrum of time and history. Using Old Testament prophecies and New Testament accounts, it focuses on both the big picture and the little details. It shows how God is intricately involved in events on a global scale as well as in the lives of individual people. It seeks to encourage the reader to consider and prepare for Jesus’ return, which is also clearly prophesied in both the Old and New Testaments. Continuing from December 1st to January 6th, these thematic readings are accompanied each day by the author’s comments and helpful illustrations. There is also a suggested Christian song or hymn and a different name of God or Jesus, which complements the theme. Most Advent devotionals end on Christmas Day but this book takes the reader all the way through to Epiphany.

Brought up in Surrey as the daughter of a Church of England vicar, Kate was immersed in church life from an early age. She grew up as a committed Christian and developed a love of the Bible, God’s Word. Training as a nurse in London, she went on to work in hospitals in Oxford and Berkshire, marrying her husband David and raising their two daughters. Kate and her husband were involved in an horrific car accident early one evening, which impacted greatly both their family and the community where they lived. It also ended her nursing career. Seeking a more accessible place to live, Kate and her family moved to Gloucestershire to start a new life post-accident.
